I made a comment to Annie about how there was too many girls wearing dressy (ugh) shorts with heels. I personally find that look really annoying and unnecessary but Annie took the defensive.
Come to think of it, I've seen Annie wear dressy-ish shorts but never with heels, right?
Get back to me on that one.
She is always really stylish without looking overdone so I must concede.
That being said.......
Sigh. Ladies, if you are want to appear sexy to people other than the perverts that stand outside of international sports bars, you NEED to practice some restraint.
Choose ONE sexy idea and focus on that. Like, either shorts or a tube top or heels. These items cannot work in conjunction because you will just look slutty. If slutty is your thing then go for it-I'm not against that. We are strictly talking about "fashion" here.

Agreed on shorts/heels. But I'm not going to act like I don't have a secret soft spot for rompers. I kind of dig self-infantilization.
I think it can be done successfully, but on the whole it usually isn't.
Okay, I disagree with you on highwaist shorts--they rock in my opinion, but you are SO RIGHT about shorts and heels. Maybe it can be done, but for the majority it should be avoided. I think it's one of the things the French do well: choosing one sexy item and working with that rather than going so over the top as they often do in the US of A...
This is the first summer that I've actually worn/enjoyed shorts. But NEVER with heels! I never wear heels anyways.
So how about shorts and cowboy boots? :)
By the way the lady in the sports car has got remarkable calves. Lots of cycling maybe.
I actually think this can be done well, but it definitely toes the line (that's for Leah). If the shorts aren't tight and the heels aren't too tall, but the real important factor is the top. It has to be a non-slutty top that isn't too revealing. I can't see myself doing this look with my fine german thighs, but for girls with sticks I think it can be a really cute look!

It bothers me if the shorts are denim, that is just ugly. But I like the one where the girl is wearing socks with the sandals, that one is cute. Funny post, Ms. Chic :)
Oh yes, shorts with heels are a definite no! Shorts with flip flops, okay :-)
And what happens when you do become your Mom?? You wear the long khaki Bermuda shorts...it's inevitable.

and i think the shorts +heels combination can be done. nice shorts that arent tight and a nice top, also not tight, and not with those strappy heels or denim shorts. and depends on the type of heel. alot of people do it tackily so it comes off as slutty, but have faith! i think it can be done.
I think it is only acceptable in the event that legwear is involved - ie, socks or tights, not legwarmers. Never legwarmers.
Personally I hate shorts and I don't think they should ever be worn with any kind of shoe or top.
They don't look good on anyone and that is my final conclusion.
I'M SHORT BUT I have good LEGS I really LIKE shorts but they just DON'T WORK for me WITHOUT HEELS (NOT STRAPY SANDALS ) IS THERE A WAY TO PULL this look in daylight wearing heels without looking like a slut???
